Google Nexus 7 – 22,500.00
The new Nexus 7 is all about the screen. The resolution's been bumped to 1920x1200, giving the new Nexus a whopping pixel density of 323 pixels per iinch - the highest of any tablet, eclipsing the Retina iPad with its ppi of 264 and completely smashing the iPad Mini's 163ppi figure.
The Nexus 7's screen is razor sharp, brilliantly bright and altogether rather jaw-dropping, especially compared to the dinky iPad. It can show films in true 1080p HD, and they look superb - far better than any other tablet of this size.
The original Nexus 7 camera  has squeezed in a decent 5MP auto focus snapper to accompany the fixed focus 1.2MP front-facing camera.

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T – 2,326.00

Asus Transformer TF701 is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary – it sports the same premium-feeling, solid build with an aluminium spun-circle finish round the back, along with a plastic strip for better Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity.

Round the front, its 10.1 display is surrounded by a rather chunky bezel . The array of micro-HDMI, microSD and 3.5mm headphone ports sit on the left hand side of the tablet - in the same location as on the Infinity, though the microphone has moved to the top left of the tablet.

The Transformer Pad sports a whopping 10.1in, 2560 x 1600 display, yielding up 299 ppi – that’s a higher pixel count and on a bigger screen size than the new iPad Air's 2048 x 1536 Retina display.

Kindle Fire HDX is serious competition for the strongest tablets out there. We’re looking at the 7in version, which runs on this year's superstar processor, the 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800, with a new 1080p screen, dual-band Wi-Fi and optional 4G. And if that’s not enough Amazon's also launching a more expensive, 2560x1600 8.9in version.

Asus Transformer Book T100 – 28,197.00
Asus Transformer Book T100 is a superb 10in tab-and-keyboard combo simply wants to make you more productive by running Microsoft Office everywhere, all day.

This T100 slots right into its dock accessory with a satisfying click, and now that Asus has replaced the old slider with a big button, swapping between modes is fuss-free.

The full version of PhotoShop CS6, everything works beautifully, a new and improved 1.33GHz Intel Atom ‘Baytrail’ processor. With dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, browsing and downloads are nice and nippy with an impressive SunSpider 1.0.2 benchmark score of 410.3ms to match.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2,472.00

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is in many ways much more clever than Apple’s iPad, and it’s on brains, not beauty, that Samsung’s competing. This 10in tablet comes with the S Pen, just like the superb Galaxy Note 3 phablet. And even though Samsung announced a 12in NotePro whopper at CES, the Note 10.1 is staying put in the line-up.

That’s an upgraded 2560 x 1600 screen, which is an even higher resolution than the holiest of holies, the iPad Air, and one of the highest Droid pixel counts in existence, equalling Asus’ latest Transformer.

The Note 10.1 2014 can do everything you want a tablet to do.
